For this Hermosa Beach residence, approximately 200 feet from the ocean, Wolf Glass and Metals developed and fabricated nearly 100 feet of custom structural aluminum shutter railing. The angled louvers filter direct sunlight, allow air to move through and screen neighboring views without closing the home off from the horizon.
From inside, daylight passes through the louvers and casts shifting fragments of light across the living space. For architects and designers, the louver angle, spacing, railing height, depth, sightlines and powder-coated finish can be tailored to the building—balancing structural protection, coastal durability, privacy, ventilation and view.
At the rooftop, specialized Birdview glass completes the exterior railing system while preserving the sweeping Pacific Ocean view.
